Putting the "Hawa" in HawAmazing

Hey Kings and Queens,

I’m Hawa Lansanah, the owner of HawAmazing Design & Stitch. It's been a month since the launch and I am SUPER excited to finally start this blog. I can’t wait  to have you all saying “Wow, I actually feel, cook, speak, and dress like a Liberian!” Ok, maybe not all 4 but you will definitely enjoy this journey. First, here's a little about me and my unique path to the American Dream of entrepreneurship. 

I’m sure you’re familiar with stories of families having to evacuate from their countries and come to America because of “civil unrest.” Well, we were one of those families... An 8-year-old refugee having to repeat my name several times because apparently 4 letters are hard to pronounce... Can you pronounce it correctly? “Hah-Wah” not “How-Wuh”.  

I’ve always enjoyed participating in extracurricular activities and clubs just to meet people and learn everything about my community and how to serve it. I attended Savannah State University (an HBCU) where I achieved my B.A. in Business Administration. While at SSU, I made one of the best decisions and became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Are you surprised? Don’t be! I don’t play around when it comes to serving my community.

I am a former classroom educator so I am always in teacher-mode. Stick with me as I take you on a journey with HawAmazing's Guide to Liberia 101.
